Our dedicated volunteers curate donations to find high value books that are then offered for sale in store and online. Through their efforts, we can make the most of your donations and maximize the annual contribution we make to the Santa Monica Public Library system.
The Santa Monica Public Library welcomes donations for the Friends of the Library Bookstore. Materials can include gently used books, audiobooks, vinyl, CDs, and DVDs. At this time only English and Spanish language books are accepted.
Donations can be dropped off at the Main Library (601 Santa Monica Blvd) on the following days:
For small donations (a small bag or a few items):
Monday – Thursday, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Donations can be left at the Main Library entrance with a Library Service Officer or a Library staff at the Customer Service desk.
For large donations (multiple bags or boxes of materials):
Fridays, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
A Library Service Officer is stationed at the Main Library 7th Street entrance to the left of the Santa Monica History Museum. Please note that we do not accept galleys or screeners.
